Why Women Love Scoundrels

We thought we’d have a little fun with the concept of “why women love players” in a Regency romance style manner. In other words, we’d like to explain “why women love scoundrels.” But there’s only one type pf scoundrel she truly loves.

The difference between a gentleman, a gentlemanly scoundrel and a scoundrel are clear.

A gentlemanly scoundrel pulls out the chair for you, unabashed attraction written across his face. You can feel his look on your body. Heat dancing across you. He asks if you’d like a drink, mischief in his eyes. He judges your reaction. If he sees the same twinkle in yours, he buys you a drink, before whispering the secrets of his soul in your ear; asking you in return to share yours. He’s attracted to you, but he won’t give in to you. Not unless you win his heart. You know you’ll be equal playmates; you can’t coerce him with your charms. His intentions are honorable, his heart pure, his mind dirty. In short, he’s irresistible.

A scoundrel pulls out the chair for you, unabashed attraction written across his face. You can feel his look on your body. Heat dancing across you. He asks if you’d like a drink, mischief in his eyes. If you say yes, he moves closer. He doesn’t care about the secrets of your soul, but he knows women well enough not to give in to your little charms. Which might tempt you to engage him in a little game of flirtatious fun. It might even tempt you to seduce him; see if you can win him over. His intentions are clear, but they are not noble. Such scoundrels can be played with, but one should never get mixed up with them when it comes to affairs of the heart. Which sadly some women do, because oh! The attraction!

The worst of scoundrels, of course, are those who either do not make their intentions clear, or who do not understand when a lady is not interested. It’s all very well to look at a woman with unabashed attraction once (and, dare we say it? Undressing her with your eyes!). Doing it more without her permission and continuously begging for her attentions, especially in a forceful, or intimate, manner is downright rude and disrespectful.

A gentleman pulls out the chair for you, reading your heart with his eyes. He asks if you’d like a drink, sincerity in his eyes. He judges your reaction. If he sees the same sincerity in yours, he buys you a drink, before whispering the secrets of his soul in your ear; asking you in return to share yours. His intentions are honorable, his heart pure, his mind white as snow. Such gentlemen are rare and rarely make for good stories. But they make excellent friends.

A woman likes to play; she just doesn’t like to be played with. Attraction is tension that slowly grows. It’s a game of wits and wills and hints at midnight. It’s a lot of fun when the intentions are pure; it leads to a lot of heartache when they are not.

Innuendo (or: the game of the tease) as the story goes, is one of the most addictive games one can play. Just make sure to play it with the right players.
